While the gay Mafia and it's well-lubed organization of national blogs and petitions literally racked up thousands of complaints against me and were successful in their mob attack to get my collection of previously published editorials not only pulled from distribution but even suppressed by my printer -
I rec'd neither support, encouragement or defense from any of you that call yourselves "Christian." Not one.. not a single one.

In every capacity; Christian, Cartoonist, Citizen and even as a man I can sadly say I am ashamed of all of you.

And if I am ashamed of you - what does God think of you?

Like many Americans I find it difficult to separate my personal faith from my own sense of nationalism. My Christianity is blended with and affected by my patriotism.
The closest sense I can get of "the shadow of thy wings" is to wrap myself in the flag.
It's a comic tradition I am proud to carry on...

I am already retired. Sales or lack of sales have no direct effect on my career.
What I am concerned about is my legacy and reputation.
Part and parcel of that are the awards I have garnered. Yes they fade into perspective with time, but they were earned and given along the way none the less.

Preeminent among them: my 2004 nomination for a Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Journalism covering the war in Iraq.

My published prayer for many years came true this Christmas with the closing of the war and the return of our troops, ie: sons and daughters,home at last.

So for those of you trying to rain on my parade, just remember - you're pissing into the wind.

Stranger still - these are REPRINTS of nationally distributed work several years old. No outcry then. Even funnier, reprint rights were obtained by "Q" one year- Utah's largest gay paper. GUESS WHAT THE "Q" STANDS FOR?

One of the weirder points of contention is an editorial cartoon from 2005 when the marketing motto that year was "WE ALL HAVE AIDS".
I AM BEING ACCUSED OF MAKING THIS STUFF UP.
Apparently being gay involves some type of selective memory as well.

Today's gay blogger have no knowledge of their own culture or history and this retrospective collection has really knocked them off their perch (Bird Cage reference they won't get either!)

There is a current trend in corporate marketing to come up with nick-names for their business'. Radio Shack is now "The Shack". "Kentucky Fried Chicken" is now just "KFC". Even Pizza Hut has abbreviated themselves to "The Hut".

But whether this is a divination of spirits via the Holy Spirit, or just my old Spidey-Sense tingling, something is wrong with a formerly Christian relief group dropping the name above all names from their brand in order to raise funds more easily without "offending" anyone in the process.

I'm offended. How about you?

The Nativity manger scene surrounding the birth of the Christ child has been only secondary in popularity to painters thru the centuries. I believe the Crucifixion and Annunciation to Mary are at the top. The Masters frequently employed a personal testimony in their work. Rembrandt painted himself as one of the Roman soldiers at the foot of the cross. Modern filmmaker Mel Gibson took it a grisly step further in his "Passion of The Christ" by actually hammering the nails into Jesus himself.

I have never had the self-image of these characters, not of the Three Wise Men or Magi. I have always felt like the poor drummer boy; a one trick pony of sorts, drawing my little pictures. It's all I can do.

The Holy Bible tells of a wrestling event between an angel and a man. It is an uneven match choreographed to teach a lesson - to the man.

I have had several cage matches with a darker angel, one that periodically tempts me to "just throw it (my life) away. So you will not be surprised to hear Frank Capra's 1946 holiday masterpiece, "It's a Wonderful Life" has been a lifelong favorite of mine.
And that each year that goes by, it finds deeper and deeper meaning in the recesses of my mind and heart.

The briefest - and to me the most profound - scene is the beginning sequence between a greater and lesser star; Franklin and Joseph, as they respond to a cloud of prayers rising to heaven on behalf of George Bailey...

How's that for integrity? The Art world has been irreparably damaged by the conceit of the Pop movement. The sheer facetiousness of the idea makes the mind reel.
And yet, the pure corruption of such a world view has changed that culture forever.

We have to repeat that this subject has never been about the evidence. The wonders of Creation itself render every soul accountable to the hand of that Creation. Whether it is the glow of distant nebulae brought into focus by the Hubble telescope, ("by the word of God the heavens were of old,") or clam shells found atop Mt. Everest, ("Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:")

The science of geology has established that the Earth's crust is made up of layer after layer laid down by water - each containing untold numbers of marine fossils.
But fossils do not occur left out in the open for millions and billions of years; they either rot away or are eaten by scavengers. The existence of fossils at all can only come from these layers being laid down very rapidly.

Here in the Grand Canyon the evidence is before your very eyes!

There's a cable TV show now called "AXEMEN". In light of our last cartoon featuring another woodsman taking aim at the roots of Old World Beliefs - this cartoon parody of Pinky & the Brain shows we are really in a situation of dueling axes.

The foundation of our faith is the need for salvation created by our separation by sin from our Creator. If the Enemy is successful in convincing you that you have no need of salvation, it follows you have no need of a savior.

"Carbon 14"

The Carbon Dating of coal lends undeniable support for a recent global flood.

Carbon 14 should decay away in 70,000 years.
But we are taught coal formed over 225 million years ago.
So coal should not have any trace of Carbon 14 left in it...

But coal still contains measurable amounts of Carbon 14!

I could think of no gentler way to illustrate the spiritual stand-off and battle of wills between mankind and out Heavenly Father, than this poignant time-out for our favorite junior menace; Dennis.

The pen & ink progeny of Hank Ketcham, "Dennis the Menace" is celebrating 60 years of not just family values, but the ironic embodiment of "our ways not being His ways" and "our thoughts not being His thoughts".

"Oh Dark Spirit"

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
~Genesis 1:31

Here it is, where the rubber meets the road;
1. "God saw every thing that he had made"
(The Universe was created by design - it did not evolve or occur by accident.)
2. "behold, it was very good."
(There was no millennia of death and suffering proceeding the existence of mankind.)
3. "the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
(The Earth is very young. Remember, it is the evil servant who claims the Master is far away & not returning soon...)
If you have a problem with any of these propositions - pls consider these next 3 references from scripture;
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." - Genesis 1:1
"If the foundations be destroyed - what can the righteous do?" - Psalm 11:3
"If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me." - John 5:46
That's right, the Books of Moses talk about Christ Himself.
If you do not understand Genesis - you cannot understand Revelation;
they both preach the same everlasting Gospel of the Creator.

The cartoons here are designed to catch you by surprise - to engage that other side of your brain - even for a moment, but don't be deceived.
Your very salvation depends on these foundational principles.
How can I make that claim?
Simple.
Your salvation is dependent on what you believe.
If you believe in a false Christ - your faith is in vain.
Jesus warned that there would be many who came in his name -
So does your faith rest in a Christ that took millions of years of death and suffering to bring about the first man, Adam by accident?
Or do you take Him at His word?

It seems we really do laff best when we laff last.

The editing team of Charles Brooks' BECY 2011 has decided to include the very same Christian editorials that were censored from the national news servers by the current president & board of directors of AAEC. I guess being a past president of the same organization has it's perks. And we are very grateful. Vindicated - and grateful.

The last time I entered this national competition was 2005. (We won that year too!)

I don't know why, but some of the funniest people I know are both scoffers and atheists. Perhaps it is the inherent irreverence of comedy that leads to the slippery slope of blasphemy.

I'm sure I have been guilty myself on many occasion. Even so I am here to serve my penance and in doing so offer up my own response to the warning:

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." - Galatians 6:7
If we sow the truth in love and good humor - may we reap a harvest of laughing souls!

JOHNNY HART 1931 - 2007

Among professional Cartoonists - outspoken faith is a rare matter. Makes our editors nervous... The greatest - and most controversial was Johnny Hart.

His shining example was a deciding factor in pursuing this path - and even this title; "AD" as both a counterpoint to skeptics and tribute to the man.

Much thot was given to the parody use of his faithful cavemen, Peter & Thor in the launch of this new series but in the end it was characters from "The Wizard of Id" that served as our ice-breaker.

The Submerging Church

Today we see, sadly, the submerging Church of the Last Days - where a growing majority of senior pastors and Church leaders do not accept the Truth of God's Word.

The resulting outfall is that a similar percentage of children raised in the Church - leave it forever by the time they go off to college. Their immature faith built upon a faulty foundation of Biblical history taught only as Sunday school stories and the indoctrination of a compromised psuedo-science - evolution - folds under the assault of their university professors.

This is a committed effort of my studio to provide scientific & historical reasons to believe in the accuracy of God's Holy Bible: "word for word & cover to cover."
